Youngmin Park

Youngmin Park (b. 1997, Seoul, South Korea) is a painter based in New York whose practice explores the fragility of perception and memory. Drawing on her upbringing as the youngest member of a large, multi-generational household filled with both people and animals, her work examines the power dynamics between humans and animals and the interplay of memory, perception, and care. Recurring motifs of figures, dogs, and birds trace the mutable nature of narratives, building both hierarchy and uncertainty within an obscurely flattened pictorial world. She works in oil on linen as well as on paper and wood.

Park earned her BFA from the Korea National University of Arts, Seoul (2022), and her MFA from Columbia University, New York (2024). Her solo exhibition Allegory of Fragility at Make Room, Los Angeles (2024) presented fifteen works on paper, canvas, and wood repeating scenes from shifting perspectives. Group exhibitions include a three-person exhibition at Latitude Gallery, New York (2024); in media res, The Blanc Gallery, New York (2023); the MFA First Year Show, Wallach Gallery, New York (2023); Arisoo Gallery, Seoul (2022); catering service, Pixel Counting Gallery, Seoul (2022); The Very First Cyborg, Gallery 175, Seoul (2022); Metal House Gallery, Yangpyeong, South Korea (2022); and JONG-DAL JONG-DAL, Theory Gallery, Korea National University of Arts, Seoul (2021). She held Teaching Assistant Fellowships in painting and drawing at Columbia University. Park lives and works in New York.
