Julian Lombardi

Julian Lombardi (b. 1996, Philadelphia) is an American artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. Working across oil and enamel painting, drawing, and sculpture, he constructs dense compositions in which bodies, symbols, and synthetic logics interlock and break down. Passages flare into recognition as figure, architecture, or interface, then liquefy, fracture, or reroute, so that the canvases read as environments under stress. Lombardi treats each work as a "reality stake": a test of whether painting can register the overload of contemporary experience without resolving it into certainty.

His most recent paintings, developed in Umbria during a residency at the Vannucci Artist Residency in Città della Pieve, mark a shift toward a more embodied visual language. Recurring blue forms move between organism, signal, relic, and machine, functioning as fields of apparition where body, signal, and memory converge.

Lombardi received his MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London (2024). Solo exhibitions include The Global Carnival, Carl Kostyál, London (2026) and Beautiful Little Rapture, The Something Machine, Bellport, New York (2024). Group exhibitions include Orders of Emergence, Make Room, Los Angeles (2026); Unstable Grounds, Kearsey & Gold, London (2025); Nowhere to Be, L.U.P.O. Lorenzelli Projects, Milan (2025); Through closed eyes, darkly, Belenius, Stockholm (2025); Roamer Project II, Colección Aldebarán, Madrid (2025); Mirage of Water, Norito Gallery, London (2025); and Palimpsestic Impressions, Arusha Gallery, London (2023), with a presentation at Untitled Art, Miami with L.U.P.O. Lorenzelli Projects (2025). He has held residencies at the Vannucci Artist Residency, Città della Pieve, Italy (2026) and at Kearsey & Gold, London (2025), and took part in Carl Kostyál's Draw Jam in Luxor, Egypt (2025).
